Holiday in Tibet

To find your inner self you won’t have to travel as far as Tibet or seek gurus in a far exotic place. You can find calm and contemplation inside the walls of Polish monasteries.

With the ever increasing pace of life, more and more people now seek sanctuary from a lack of work-life balance and the demands of modern civilisation in places of religious origin that now open their doors not just to pilgrims seeking redemption but busy businessmen and politicians.

Camaldolese monastery in Rytwiany in the Holy Cross Mountains region already offers special programmes for workaholics with support and financing from EU.

The Benedictine Monastery of Tyniec near Cracow is a favourite place for politicians. Other available locations include Franciscans’ in Pinczow, Paulists’ in Mochow and Camaldolese nuns’ in Zloczew in the Lodz region.

There are a large number of Polish monasteries offering custom-designed residential programmes with your mind and soul in mind. To achieve this you need to leave behind anything that can distract you and drag you back to civilisation – your watch, laptop, mobile phone and television. It is the simplicity of a monk’s life and not the worldly goods and possessions that make these programmes so attractive and unique.

Monastery life is simple but well organised. Early morning start, simple breakfast, working in the monastery garden and for those with religious needs – prayer. There are few words spoken, with some orders introducing total silence. The monasteries will accept all guests who will follow their humble way of living, Spartan accommodation and their rules. After all, it is a centuries-old tradition of monks giving refuge to tired travellers.
